Dont Ever Forget It (DEFI) was created over a 2-year span (2014-2016), “playing around with a Black girl sound,” representing the joys and pains of life during the illness and passing of my mother (March 6, 2014) and move to Illinois to work closely with SOLHOT (Saving Our Lives, Hear Our Truths), where the project was curated and completed. Humbly, DEFI’s release follows the release of SOLHOT We Levitate’s project, How I Feel EP, a “doing digital wrongly” music project that continues to be fuel for this project and all that is LOVELOOPS, in this particular moment, especially. This project is dedicated to the love and memory of Beverly Arnetta Boyd Smith (1962-2014) and Clarence Orlando Smith (1959-2004), my amazingly supportive big sister and best friend, LaTonia Smith, The Smith and Pettaway Family, Southside Richmond, Virginia, the bandbaes (We Levitate), SOLHOT, and all the Black girl artists and ancestors everywhere!! It's a celebration!!
